8th August

Well we clock up 18 years today!!! So are easing into the day until lunch. 1PM at the tea house the choice of Barra dishes goes from the $15.90 lunch special to $35… Two lunch specials and two Sauv Blancs. Fantastic bit of pan grilled fish with light lemon, butter herb sauce salad with citrusy vinaigrette, and a few beer battered chips – and the house wine is alright too.

Desert? Cheescake is homemade moist cake with tropical fruits mixed through. Got to try one of those (between us) washed down with a Queensland Coffee espresso! Great. $58 all up. If you get to Daintree go to the Tea House for lunch!!!

Not finished, went to Mossman for a quick shop – and to Mossman Gorge where the dog can’t go and the bus wont easily fit… A beautiful oasis with a bus load of non-english speaking high school students having a dip in the river… not Dutch or German, but?

Back ‘home’ for a lie down. Didn’t make it tho. Neighbors are back and we have all befriended a young Dutch couple camped next door. Drank too many of the Crownies we had bought in Mossman.

In serious sobriety we all decided – along with Des and Sandra that is -  not to leave, but stay another week. Cooktown isn’t going anywhere. Tracked down the park owners and booked – same spots. Retired for the night with a smile.
