We talked last night about what to do after Cooktown… We need to get a new windscreen, hopefully pickup cupboard doors, and have our glass stove cover replaced (I broke it when installing the galley overhead cupboard) all just south of Brisbane.
My appointment with the cardio surgeon is on 23rd September, so we have decided to stay in the warmth for the next 6+ weeks and try to organize all that other stuff before the 23rd… Then 24th we can head to Adelaide.
Should go via Mackay where I want to get a (cheap) satellite TV system… (the auto rooftop one will have to wait a bit). Plus we want to connect with the Dight family (formerly from Tullamarine) just south of Bundaberg… which is 1600km south of here… it’s a big place this QLD.
Meanwhile Des and Sandy have invited us out for the day in their flat towed Grand Vitara. So at 10AM we headed off to a glass artist studio/shop in the foothills north west of Mossman (Hoglund Glass). Interesting stuff. Some flash bowls and vases at $4500 odd dollars… and pretty jewelry from $75 up (and up) No sale.
Next is a detour to Karnak… Dianne Cilento’s theatre place. Interesting mostly open amphitheatre playhouse. They were setting up for an opera tonight. No Dianne tho…
Then off for lunch at the fabulous Silky Oaks Lodge (& Healing Waters Spa…) Had a great lunch under a gazebo 15-20m above the Mossman River. Beautiful.
Back to reality, a quick stop at Woolworths Mossman, the grog shop for more beers… and home. It is pizza special night in Daintree… but we are full.
