About 0930 we are ready to depart - with tow hitch up to clear the gutter we connect the car in Fisk Road and off.
Tony suggests the easiest, shortest way to the Kennedy Highway and Ravenshoe (Ravingshoo...) is through Malada and left on ... Barron Road - a bit of level gravel road near the end. So after topping both vehicles with fuel and a last check at the Post Office, the adventure revives.

Stop for a pee at Ravenshoe. Lunch at Innot Hot Springs. We have finally escaped the 'wet belt'. It's warm and dry and scattered clouds. Might even need the air-con on in the bus!!! Honey and I walked down to the creek flowing from the spring. It is a warm bath temperature. The Caravan Park next door has six pools of varying temperature-from cold to too hot... We sneaked in the check it out. Like all hot mineral baths -the water and moist air punishes everything, and it needs lots of maintenance - the CP is a bit behind and it is a bit... grotty?Anyway, nice sandwich in the shade and off again. We have decided to stop at Mount Surprise - Bedrock CP where we stopped last year; and have just booked by phone for two nights. Will see about tours when we get there.

Arrive Mt S about 1430 and get the shade out - the awnings. We are in the back corner, spacious, peaceful, warm - and amenities not far away. Have pencilled in the Undarra Half Day Tour for tomorrow. The park staff will mind or check on Honey while we are gone - for a gold coin donation to RFDS (Royal Flying Doctor Service). We are now seriously in that region. RFDS has a clinic here each week...We are settled for the night. BBQ grilled chicken breast and salad eaten outside in siglets with no bugs (to speak of) and washed down with a Preece Pinot Grigio... not bad, at all!
