Monday morning - mail call. Most of the stuff we have been waiting for has arrived; presents! Finally my self birthday present, the Makita cordless drill kit, and a Makita vacuum cleaner which uses the same battery, a wind down support leg to experiment with stabilising the parked bus, another cheap Tyagi TV for outside, and a bracket to hang it on/from. And thank Dog - our replacement credit cards (which expired 31 July, oops).
And of course off to the Toolmaker/ Engineering supplies. They have a 14mm x 180mm course thread bolt so with a nyloc nut and a couple of washers, we are back in business. Should take ten minutes to get the alternator back on... yeah right! Can't get the holes to line up... The alternater is massive, a couple of kilowatts output and weighs maybe 20/30kg? No space around and poor access to the pivot. So an hour and a half later, covered in grease and blood from skinned knuckles, the alternator is back on and the belts tight!
Meanwhile Maz has been avoiding all the swearing and has been house cleaning, Tony and Helen are home tomorrow.
Contact from Des and Sandra and we have an address. We are 9km south east of Malanda, and they are about 7km north east. So we are off to visit, and then go for dinner at the RSL later. They are house sitting -well actually chook sitting - for Des's uncle who has gone to Broome (presumably to get out of the cold!).
After beer number one Sandra suggests checking on the RSL serving dinner tonight as it is Monday. Good thinking - they don't, neither does the hotel. None of us feel like journeying elsewhere so we will try again Wednesday, night. So it's off home to drag out some food. The frozen fish and chips is good, just the same.
