Packed up nearly everything yesterday, except for chairs and crockery we left at the "farewell BBQ" on the 'terrace' next door. We adjourned in the nick of time and were asleep by the time Des returned the chairs...
When we moved the bus, very squeaky belt noise from the rear. The alternator is rattling around. The pivot bolt has lost its nut somewhere and has worked partly out relieving the tension on the triple belts - which of course also drive the water pump. No 14mm fine nuts lying around so the bolt is tapped home and the thread wired - and the belts tensioned very tight. Will check every now and then on the drive south.
So at about 0930 we are off leaving Des and Sandy to finish packing the Winnebago, the Suzuki and the Harley. Sandra will drive the road train and Des ride the Harley. As it happens they are heading for near Malanda too; haven't quite worked out where. So we will catch up there.
Have decided to tow the car up the range on the climb to Julatten. So turn right 5km south of Mossman and so it's 3rd gear and 2500RPM = 40KPH. The bus is quite comfortable at this pace... until the roadworks where we have to stop on the slope; another handbrake start... It's only about 10KM and 50 bends to Julatten. Stock up on their farmed Barra again!
And so in due course (a couple of hours) we are back at T-View... As usual, we unhook the car AND turn the drop tow hitch upside down to clear the gutters coming in. I have ground a millimetre or so off the threads of the tow-ball so far!!! We are in - and it is a beautiful afternoon. Good day for a bit of washing. And we have TV again what a novelty - but of course mostly the same junk - which we haven't actually missed. Although we have all but missed the Olympics...
