19th August: Poinciana CP...

The caravan park is at Cooee Beach across the causeway just south of Yeppoon. It's a nice place. We booked for two nights... we have decide to say a week. The stay 7, pay for 6 makes it $25.25 per night or $177 per week - compared with Mackay Council camps at $150 per week, no power, no water, extra for hot shower... and we are 200m from a beautiful beach not mud flats... Unfortunately we will have to change sites on Wednesday...

The first night was a bit cool, but the day magnificent. We headed out at a civilised hour, stocked up at the main mall. Managed to get a spare bus door key cut at a Locksmith...

Yeppoon Beach
Then we visited the Hitch'n'Go A-Frame towing system maker. Met Gary Palmer the owner and discussed the minor problem with the right car mount rotating somewhat.
The U bolt has needed tightening a few times... I have nipped it up but missed the hidden (anti rotation) bolt through the chassis. He offered to weld it, but I declined welding to the car chassis. Nice bloke.
We discussed telescopic towbars. He is working on one, but H'n'G is one of three businesses he has... He's has bought and tried all the telescopic bars available, and failed all but one!

The more I connect and disconnect the A-Frame, the more keen I am on a telescopic one. Unless both vehicles are on the flat - very level, it is difficult to line up properly. Unless on the flat and the vehicles are straight, there can be a lot of pressure not the ball joint. Sometime too much to get the hitch off the ball.

Then we drove around Yeppoon proper, the shopping strip etc, We have six more days...
