12th August: Alva to... Hydeaway Bay

Crossing the Burdekin River
Well Sandra and Des caught up or crossed paths with us at Alva Beach last night, Monday. It's been two years since we have hugged! So we hugged, ate drank... and slept very well. They head off to Townsville today and we headed south with a vague plan. First is crossing the Burdekin River with Home Hill on the other side.

Queens Beach
Then in accordance with 'the plan' we have followed the coast as far a practicable. So this time we have explored around Bowen - and the northern beaches are pretty... then then we found Horseshoe Bay; absolutely gorgeous - and full... then over the point, Rose Bay, beautiful!

So then it's on, on, on... We tried to stay at the CP south of Bowen. Got there at 1230... and the office is closed 1200 - 1400?

Boom gate, nowhere to hang about... so we kept going.

The next interesting bit south is Hydeawy Bay (Hideaway on the Maps etc). We stayed there a night three years ago.

So we are in and after a while explore a bit out to George Point, or Gloucester Cape is a Bar called Montes and the Gloucester Resort. It is a very pretty corner.
