15-16th Sept - W/E at Fitzroy Crossing...

Our neighbours Ian and Hughie (for Hughina) Boag have offered to take us shopping; an outing... So it's off to the town of Fitzroy Crossing (5km). In the 'mall' the Post office is open - Sat morning!! In I go.
The package has arrived, the mechanic (the posties father) already has it. Ian and I head around there (which gets us out of watch and carry in the IGA). Keith Mac the mechanic is going bush for the night so we collect the pump to make sure it fits. He will come around on Monday morning... So we have our water pump. It has the right number of holes!
So on return from the shops I remove the old pump. The new one is a little different but fits properly... on closer examination I realise the flange for the pulley is not the same height as the old one. It is about 1cm too short/low. This means the 3 v-belts will not line up - and consequently destroy themselves in no time. However the flange is a shrink fit or pressed onto the shaft - and there is enough shaft length to move it out to the right spacing. But it will need a press and maybe heat (oxy+acetylene). So we WILL need help on Monday...

Sunday at Fitzroy River Lodge, Ian is ready to load boat and car: one man job with hydraulics and electric winch... but needs a bit of reversing help as the boat is about 50cm wider than the car (and 20cm wider then the mirrors).

It is, by the way 41C while the loading is happening. Maz and I then head for the pool...

On return take Honey through the nearby sprinklers... it helps a bit... for awhile...

Then it is beer o'clock!!! Joining the Boags for a coldy...
