9th Oct - Pt Denison to Jurien Bay... er Cervantes

Obelisk and channel marker Port Denison
Fifteen weeks away today!!! Seems like no time at all.
Our plan is to amble down the road, stopping at pretty places and ending up at Jurien (or Jurien Bay) in the early afternoon. 5km from Pt Denison we rejoin the Brand Highway for about 20km til the turnoff to Jurien via the Indian Ocean Drive - along or closer to the coast.

There are a couple of settlements along the way, Leeman and Green Head, we detoured through both. Leeman was a delightful corner neat, quiet. We inspected the catch of some kids on the pier - one legal (just) Blue Swimmer Crab. They were having fun!

Dynamite Bay
We pressed on to Green Head. Another pretty corner and beaches. Found a coffee shop; muggachino (the usual weak WA brew) and homemade cheesecake, fabulous. But that is it for lunch. checked out Dynamite Bay, bit seaweedy but a beautiful small cove.

On to Jurien... We haven't booked, but figure the chance are good. In spite of school holidays we have not had a problem. In fact there has been plenty of space in the CPs...

Jurien Bay strikes us as similar to Coral Bay, lots of people, but it does have shops. Anyway the Jurien Bay Top Tourist Park will not take dogs/pets in peak seasons - and inspite of many vacant spaces, this school holiday is 'peak'. We are directed to the 'overflow' at the football ground. But it is not near the beach - which, as it turns out is not a dog beach anyway. There is no sign of life - or other travellers at the ground, just a sign advising $25 for a night - for nothing... This shire has signs everywhere advising not overnight stopping except at caravan parks, oops, the park (or oval), in this case.

And so we press on again. 25km to Cervantes. No trouble here, even a drive through (at a premium, admittedly). After plugging in and having a cold drink we are off to inspect the town! Doesn't take long. We are now only 200KM from (north) Perth, so better start thinking about where to park as there is not room at Owen and Ali's. And also to get the car fixed so we can get to and from.

Tomorrow night we will stop somewhere closer but short of Perth, maybe Yanchep?
