8 Mar 17 AM - around the Island...

An approximation of the morning's travels...
After Breaky we set off west and headed for the Nobbies skirting Ventnor straight to The Nobbies Centre a massive building on the south west corner. Good coffee and a muffin. The seal colony is a long way off even with the binoculars outside. Nearly bought Indigo a penguin cap for winter...

We enjoyed the view then took the cliff top track along the coast to the Penguin Parade. Waved at a Wallaby, lots of pairs of Geese, and other sea birds. I think Shearwaters.
At the last turn down the cliff at the Penguin Parade we were struck by the sight of big viewing stands and galleries at the top of the beach. And could see the tracks to burrows behind them. Will give it a miss this evening (at $25 a head).

Detoured to many of the points on the coast beaches and coves (which google maps ignores even though the roads are marked!) Including to Pyramid Rock - well the viewing point...

Next a quick visit to the Phillip Island GP Track. It is still a beautiful environment and track. The visitor centre sells access to the museum, viewing areas and also hot laps... Being former pensioners, we bought a stubby holder instead.

Maz wanted me in a pic too. Here 'tis.
The Nobbies, the Penguin Parade, and the Lindsay Fox's GP Track are so commercialised, as is most of the Island now.

Next in towards Newhaven then left to Rhyll on the north east corner. Went to the water where we could, as usual. Very pretty place.

Finally tracked back west to Cowes looking for the coast where possible. So 0830 to 1330 driving and walking. Feet up for a bit - blog time.
