11th July: Mackay to Rollingstone!

Up and at'em this morning. Appointment with Richard Banks at Aardvark Electonics (AKA Vansat Satellite Systems... Bluestar... Motosat. 8:45 we are there - 7km from the CP. I have the Motosat controller out ready for firmware upgrade, deliver it to Richard. He will bring it out shortly.
In 15 minute he appears and we connect the box, and head out to see what is happening on the roof. Immediately obvious - to Richard that the arm with the LNB - the Low Noise Block amplifier which picks up the signal reflected from the dish, is not in the right position. He retrieves a ladder and some cleaner (not CRC). The arm pivots have become sticky, dirty so the arm is not falling in place relative to the dish. A few squirts and working the arm and all fixed. Richard tested all functions; we connected the VAST box and voila, all working again.
9:35 engine start and ready to go, By 1000 we are fuelled up and clear of Mackay.

Catalina Silhouette and Memorial
A couple of hours up the road we got off the highway at Bowen for lunch at the ex seaplane base. Parked on the original hardstanding! Visited the memorial (again).

So then, we have decided to get north of Townsville for the night. Refuel at Townsville. What a lot of construction happening! Have ended up at Rollingstone Hotelabout 50km north of RK - So we are eating out tonight... and retiring to the carpark!
Only 400km to go tomorrow, to Daintree.
