You might have noticed... no travel posts for 2013!
But we have included the earlier blog stuff from 2010 which was called mazab travels oz. see the navigation pane
We decided we really must put time and money into the house. We left it locked up, turned off... and with the balcony veranda jacked op so the rain would run off the roof to the gutter not into the ceiling!
So we have a rebuilt balcony. new glass balustrade, new kitchen still underway, 3KW Solar array on the roof - in the hope of reducing future bills, etc etc. You know; one thing leads to another: one job exposes another... The outside of TWO of the four walls is now insulated with polystyrene, but still un-rendered. That need to be finished...
Anyway, this year 2014, we WILL be going north for some of the winter!!
Plan 'A' is to head to Karumba for June, Daintree for July, and amble down the east coast for August.
Well, that is plan 'A'... and we have to figure how to get to Perth late July....???
However a bit of work on the RHHINO is in order. Need to rebush the alternator mounts. Remember the saga of bolts, well fixing the mounts is the only solution. Also, the exhaust, which dumped soot on and in the Suzuki will be raised to roof level on the right rear corner outside the bus. And the exhaust brake is not working properly, needs attention. Planning better ventilation for the fridge. Have killed the under spec air-con (at Fitzroy Crossing) so need to do something about that - don't yet know what... Need to seal the rear floor hatches to meet the exhaust out, now that I have found where it gets in. And I have two thin solar panels to go on the front turret to keep the bus (as distinct fro 'house') batteries charged. So a few thing to do... after the house works!
You may remember that it is 2720km from here to Karumba (and its only 900km to the QLD border!) It is 1850 Karumba to Daintree, 1920km Daintree to Burleigh Heads (the shortest way) and 1440km home (the shortest way) so we are still looking at 8000KM minimum or about $3000 in fuel.
So it is just a plan.... AND will, again, all be recorded on this blog!
Plan early, plan often - and plan on the plan not going according to plan...
